babies during a pandemic

Having a baby is a journey like no other: doing it during a pandemic is something else entirely.  Grandparents, parents and family unable to fly over and wrap you in their love is so very hard - for everyone.

The braveness required to navigate our constant changing normal, the additional pressure and concentration needed by Mummas having to go in alone to absorb all the information at appointments, scans and sudden check ups. It’s exhausting.

The niggling possibility they may have to labour on their own. Partners separated before, during and after the birth. How incredibly hard it is to not be able to support the one you love - squeeze their hand, hold their gaze and tell them how much they are loved.

If you know anyone who has had a baby - or having a baby - there are so many ways you can support them from a distance that can really make a difference…

  • Gift a weekly laundry home service

  • Check in when you are at the shops if they need anything - drop a tasty treat off anyway

  • Purchase vouchers for their favourite takeaway

  • Offer to take their dog for a walk or look after it for a few days

  • Organise a surprise morning pastry delivery from their local cafe

  • Send a simple text message to let them know you are thinking of them
